Web Design Definitions

WWW - World Wide Web: A system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet.

FTP: Abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol. A standard network protocol used to transfer files from one host to another host over a TCP- based network, such as the Internet

URL: Abbreviation for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the global address of documents and resources on the World Wide Web.

Domains: An identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the
 Internet.


.com/.gov: They are domain names. .com/.gov are the top-level domain names that can be used when choosing a domain name.

HTML: It is an abbreviation for Hypertext Markup Language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World.

Search Engine: A program for the retrieval of data, files, or documents from a database or network, esp. the Internet.

Web Crawler: A Web crawler is a computer program that browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner or in an orderly fashion

Blog: A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.

Social Media: media for social interaction, using highly accessible publishing technique

Netiquette: The correct or acceptable way of communicating on the Internet.
